Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you. (Ps 33)

God our creator, as we continue the journey during this Lenten Season we are mindful of our need to reconcile all that is sinful within our lives.
Open our hearts so that we may hear your words and turn towards you for forgiveness.
Enlighten us and restore us to a life filled with your grace.
Guide us so that we may experience a change of heart and return to you and receive your peace.
Amen.

Lord, do not deal with us according to our sins. (Ps 79)

God our Father, help us to experience new life through the sacrament of reconciliation.
Guide us so that we may live by your commandments and beatitudes.
Especially when we are confronted by people who prefer to pull us down.
Give us the strength and courage to hold firm to our beliefs during these moments when we are being tempted to sway from your grace.
Amen.

God of Love, we ask that you send us your Spirit.
We are so active in many things and are in need of your strength to live the many tasks that we are faced with this day.

Father, into your hands I commend my spirit. (Ps 31)

Lord, by the suffering of Christ your Son you have saved us all from the death we inherited from Adam and Eve.
May we come to you asking forgiveness for our sinfulness and may we receive your mercy in our lives.
As your Son carried His cross to His death, may we find the strength to carry our crosses with the same passion and love that your Son bore the burden of His cross.
Amen.

The Lord is kind and merciful. (Ps 103)

Loving and gentle God, we come before you eager to rest in your arms.
We are aware of your kindness and mercy towards those who ask for your guidance.
When we fall from your grace may we return to you with a heart that is humble and contrite.
May we experience your compassion and rest peacefully in your arms.

If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. (Ps 95)

God of all compassion, during this Lenten Season we are trying to live a life of repentance, almsgiving and fasting.
It is not always easy to remain focused on these areas within our lives.
When we become discouraged with our weaknesses remind us that you are there to lift us up,
give us the encouragement we need and to develop the confidence needed to follow through with our desires to offer sacrifices during these days.
Amen.

Athrist is my soul for the living God. When shall I go and behold the face of God? (Ps 42)

God of mercy, often times our souls thirst and long for you.
Guide and lead us to the streams of life giving waters so that we may quench our thirst.
In so doing, may we bring others to drink from these waters and be able to share your gifts to all those whom we encounter in life.
Amen.

Remember your mercies, O Lord. (Ps 25)

Father of all mercies, we are walking a path of forgiveness during these days of Lent.
Sometimes people place obstacles before us that make it difficult for us to remain on the path of righteousness.
These obstacles are often placed by the people that we trust, the people that we see each and every day and the people that are the closest to us.
During these times help us to have the strength to confront them and remove the obstacles from our path.
Amen.

Salvation Prayer

God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now.
I have been living for myself and that is wrong.
I need You in my life; I want You in my life.
I acknowledge the completed work of Your Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross at Calvary, and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice.
Come into my life now, Lord.
Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior.
From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life.
Those days are in Your hands.
Amen.

The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. (Ps 23)

God our Father, as we continue this walk during Lent we are reminded of the many words that your Son gave to us during His time on earth.
Each day this week may we recall the words your Son revealed so that we may better understand the witness He gave to us.
May we prepare to celebrate with joy the ultimate gift of eternal life that you have given to us through your Son, Jesus.
Amen.

Doing the Work of Our Calling

That it may please thee to inspire us,
in our several callings,
to do the work which thou givest us to do with singleness of heart as thy servants,
and for the common good,
we beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
Amen.

My Soul Waits for the Lord

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord.
Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!
If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;
my soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning.
O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is great power to redeem.
It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.
Amen.

Prayer for Young People

O God, we pray and beseech you
to guide and protect young people
from the dangers that are ever present in our world today.
Be with them, as they experience both sickness and health,
sorrow and joy,
loneliness and friendship,
success and failure.
Gracious God,
give to them the courage and strength
to make the right decisions
as they journey through life.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit,
may they come to know and experience your loving care.
We make this prayer through Christ Our Lord.
Amen.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. (Ps 34)

Father, source of life, we come to you asking for your guidance as we live some hard issues within our society and within families.
We recognize the pain and hurt that families are living with children that are being bullied, with a struggling economy and with various temptations that surround the sanctity of married life.
Give us the courage and the strength to address these issues in a proactive manner and not become discouraged when we see little to no progress in these areas.
Amen.

O Lord, my God, in you I take refuge. (Ps 7)

Lord Jesus Christ, we are living in a time where there are many distractions and temptations that pull us away from truly living in your light.
In our work places there are people who place obstacles before us which have a tendency to distract us from taking refuge in you.
When we have these experiences help us to remain focused on your presence and not to fall from your grace.
May we be able to address these obstacles with courage and not get caught up in the negativity that these obstacles often produce.
Amen.

With the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redemption. (Ps 130)

God of mercy, we draw closer to the celebration of the gift of eternal life that your Son Jesus made possible for us to receive.
We ask that you change our selfishness into self-giving and our despair into hope.
Allow us the opportunity to experience these transforming moments in our lives and to receive the fullness of redemption.
Help us to make the decisions that will draw us closer to receiving your mercy.
Amen.

Prayer for Young People

God our Father, you see your children growing up in an unsteady and confusing world:
Show them that your ways give more life than the ways of the world, and that following you is better than chasing after selfish goals.
Help them to take failure, not as a measure of their worth, but as a chance for a new start.
Give them strength to hold their faith in you, and to keep alive their joy in your creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

O Lord, hear my prayer, and let my cry come to you. (Ps 102)

Gracious God, we sometimes are afraid to bring before you what we have lived as we are embarrassed for not trusting more in you or believing that you will be there for us.
During these dark and dry moments in prayer help us to have the courage to come before you and ask that you fill our dry wells with the nourishment needed to regain our ability to come before you.
Amen.

In my justice I shall see your face, O Lord; when your glory appears, my joy will be full. (Ps 16)

Lord Jesus, we hear in the psalm that in your justice we shall see your face.
Help us this day to see you in those whom we meet in our work, our friends and our family members.
Help us to respond to them with love especially when we feel betrayed,
when there is a lack of trust present and when we sense there is little hope in getting an honest response from them.
Help us to generate a more welcoming atmosphere so all of us can grow in our love for you and be able to see you more clearly in those whom we encounter this day.
Amen.
