I would be willing to give you odds that when Bottie was in the Corps he NEVER called a Gunny Boy. He may have had a death wish but since he survived I doubt it. Of course he did wind up in the Army where they call an E5 Sarge. I pity a Marine who would call a Marine E5 Sarge.
How long was your Dad in for?

:duel: Each and every person should read every word of each post and the meaning behind that post when it is made.

I have seen some posts taken out of context. That is not the ideal behind our fun and games. There is to be no, I repeat no, personal firefights on this web site.

If a post is in qustion please send a copy to me for review. I do not read 100% of the posts. But I do read as many as I have time to do so. But I read each and every email and post sent to me.

I noticed this morning when I arrived at the Regimantal tents in the field that the rocks were not removed from where I would have my cot..

Where is the butter balls that was in charge of that detail?

I also do a field inspection with the C.O. and saw that the 81's were pointed in the direction of our tents. The flairs are to be used to the south. Not to the north.

Who authorized the WP rounds? This is not combat...

I can remember in the old days when we used to have a long and a short. We would say send one up with 4 packs and take the 2 extra packs and put it with the next one to make it a full 8 packer. The Lt used to come screaming at us. But what the heck. The round was already on it's way. We of course always sent the short round first so that no one was the wizer. We never did burn up a tube. Yep I call tell you all about these dump tubes.

Ya, short rounds.........I can remember our gunny telling us when I was in FLC, Camp Books.........don't worry about the incomming its friendly.............frie ndly hell ............short rounds kill also.......it only hurts more when its your own troops..........ya bujnker watch that was the good old days............Hell we still loved you Artie's.

Yes Sir Capt.,
He was in Korea, I just don't know the time frames. He never talked about it. According to his DD-214 he received the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a 3516, Auto Mechanic. I have requested all documentation on him from HQMC.

Out of respect for Chuck I will not engage in any fire fights but for info purposes only - in my day there was no rank of Gunnery Sergrant however we called Tech Sgts GUNNY as a sign of respect.
In todays Marine Corps it is perfectly acceptable to call a Gunnery Sgt GUNS.

Well.. 1stSgt.. it looks like the hike went over well... No tents were blown up and the skies were lit up all night. I had a hell of a time sleeing..

After the men did their hike back Friday did the doc check their feet before the CO gave the men liberty? We don't want any blisters.

Glad to hear that the hike went on as scheduled.

I did go by Sick Bay and we had a few Marines who have a problem.

AS you know the Co told the troops to pack a field transport pack, with their extra pair boots in the pack.

Well, after the Troops got to the destation point the Co ordered everyone to take off their boots and put them on the six by. Then sent the six by with driver back to main side...... after the troops did that the Co told them to take out the other pair boots from their packs and put them on !..............Ya, guess what a few of the troops didn't pack their extra pair boots.......and had to go back to main side in their stocking feet to get their other boots.

Guess they didn't make it back to the camp site area. Don't know if the Co is going to write them up for missing a movement and disobeying an order.......Has he talked to you about this issue ?

Please advise:kilroilet

I am thinging about doing just that .. burn them... however , I would rater leave that in your capible hands, secondy, the sore feet will make them think twice the next time they are ordred to do something... thirdly.. buy doing this , we know who are birds are.
