View Full Version : A Veterans Prayer - Retired 11/27/06
O Lord, you have given everything its place in the world, and no one can make it otherwise. For it is your creation, the heavens and the earth and the stars; you are the Lord of all. (Esther 13)
Lord Jesus, we come to you this day in thanksgiving for the many ways we live in freedom. For there are many times we do not always make the healthiest choices in life and we are in need of your healing and forgiving presence. There are times when we do not take our responsibilities that go along with living in freedom seriously and we are in need of your grace in our lives to strive to continue to live in truth and in freedom. We ask this in your name. Amen.
Let all the earth cry out to God with joy.” (Psalm 66)
Lord God, guide our hearts and our choices as we enter this summer season. Help us to use your gifts of time and leisure well and keep us safe and healthy. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Within your temple, we ponder your loving kindness, O God. As your name, so also your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is filled with justice. (Ps. 47)
God our Father, within your loving kindness we ponder your saving grace in our lives. May we also know of your forgiveness in our lives and come before you asking for forgiveness when we have fallen from your presence. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen

I will praise your name forever, my king and my God. (Ps.145)

As your Son suffered for our sins, may we be mindful of our need to ask forgiveness and to experience your grace in the sacrament of reconciliation. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

2Ch*5:13
It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD;
Do not abandon me, Lord. My God, do not go away from me, Lord, my Savior. (Ps 37)
Lord Jesus, we hear in the Psalm the cry and the plead that you do not abandon us. May we, with each new day, grow closer to you and never be in situations where we feel you have abandoned us. For in our times of need and pain, it can feel like you have left us. May your grace always be enough for us. We ask this in your name. Amen.

Let my prayers come before you, Lord; listen, and answer me. (Ps 87)
