I'm new to this whole thing, so please bare with me. I am a student in high school and I was wondering if I could ask a Vietnam War Veteran some questions for an english project that I'm doing. I already put this same question on a different 'thread,' and then started this one afterwards...oops...thank s

mer66.. just ask your questions where ever you want. There are many Vietnam veterans on these forums.

But you may want to put your questions in the Future Marines Thread.. :salute:

Ryan, I would suggest you obtain your degree first, and while I would recommend the Marine Corps to anyone who is interested in serving their country I must tell you you don't "attended the Marines".
You join the Marines and if you have what it takes you will become a Marine after completing boot camp.

Have you talked to your local recruiter?, they would be able to help you the most in your choice of goals and career, You have made the first step in inquiring about what could become a life changing experience, it was for me and I know it was for many others on this web site.

I wish you the best of luck in your pursuit of a federal agent career and theres no doubt you will find the Marine Corps a challenging and worth while step in attaining it.

Semper Fi,
Larry B.

The first thing to learn Ryan is that MARINE is spelled with a Capital M

Good question, I was wondering something along the same lines:
Does anyone here know of any one (or any way) who has become a member of (or to become a mamber of) protective services after serving in the Marine Corps?

Please show respect. It is Mr. Chuck not Chuck. I was raised to say Mr & Mrs and I still stick with my upbringing and I am almost 40 . Thank you !!!!

Sunshine..

Many years ago when I was a young 2ndLt I was called Mr. All of the officers call each other by our first names. Of course the enlisted has to call us by rank and last name.

For some reason the nickname MrChuck stuck back in those days. But I was only called that by senior officers.

After I was promoted to 1stLt that changed and only my first name Chuck was used when talking in private to other officers.

I have now been retired many many years (over 31 years to be exact - November 1, 1976). I prefer the user name of Chuck. That's why I use Chuck. I only use MrChuck on my email because at the time I took the email service I have, plan Chuck, was already taken by someone else and not available.

So please... Everyone... just call me Chuck. That is correct. And Sunshine.. thanks so much in thinking of my honor.

Don't worry Sunshine.... I have known MrChuck, for, to many years to remember...

He gets on my Butt all the time for calling him Major.....but, thats how I was reared...He wiil always be the Maj to me....he earned it...

As far as I am concerned, he rates to be called many names... Ok, I will behave....

Chuck is many things, but he is always first and foremost for our Marines.

Sunshine... Like in most families there was only one Mr. In my family and that was my father. I was raised mostly the Indian (Cherokee) way.. Where we never used the word Mr to anyone. It was a word that was not in our speach...

We referred to our seniors as elders or family head. I never called my father dad until after I was 15 years old. Just a few months before he died in a automobile accident.
I called him "father".

Call me anything you want.. just don't call me late when there is food on the table.

Yes I have known some in here for many years. GyBill being the longest. And yes I have gotten on GyBill many times by calling me by my rank (as he was trained to do) then by the name I use... "Chuck".. GyBill and I never served together.. But I would have welcomed him to my command anytime. We did serve during over lapping periods. I of course being older then he is I served the earlier days and he served the later days.

GyBill is also right about another point. The Marines with me always come first.
