LtCol John Birchett Middleton Jr. USMC (ret), 58, Covington, LA

John Birchett Middleton Jr. passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006. Survived by his wife of 37 years, Dolores DeLaune Middleton; two sons, 2nd Lt. Jeffrey P. Middleton, USMC and his wife Diana of Okinawa, Japan, and Capt. Kevin S. Middleton, Louisiana National Guard, and his wife, Jasmine, of Slidell; grandchildren, Jacob, Elizabeth, Nicole, Johnathan, Isabella, Devin and Darby Middleton; mother, Nita Coker Middleton Bouquet of Baton Rouge; sister, Lucille Middleton Hall and her husband Charles of Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John Birchett Middleton Sr. He was 58, a native of Baker, and a resident of St. Tammany Parish for the past 20 years. He retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Marine Corps after 21 years of service. Having served during the Vietnam Era, he was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. He was a member of the Covington Rotary Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7286. He was currently a commercial real estate agent with Prudential Gardner Realtors. If anything has been omitted, "God knows all he needs to know about me." The family expresses its deepest gratitude to Drs. Greg Bissette, Ricardo Blanco, Max Luna, Leonardo Orejarena, the 3-East and ICU nurses, radiology, respiratory and laboratory staffs of St. Tammany Parish Hospital. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Monday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 11 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to St. Tammany Hospital Foundation. Sign guest book online at http://www.ejfieldingfh.com.
