FALMOUTH - John Thomas Casey died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, in the Harborside Healthcare Center, Falmouth. He was 86. He was the beloved husband of Martha J. (Natoli) Casey of 62 years.
John lived in Uxbridge and Wellesley before retiring to Falmouth Heights in the 1970s. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Milford and was a graduate of Holy Cross College in Worcester. John was a retired captain of the United States Marine Corps. He served during WWII in Iwo Jima. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Silver Star Medals.
John was the owner of the Fletcher Hardware Store in Watertown, a member of the Framingham Country Club, and worked at the Cape Cod County Club in Falmouth.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, and St. Thomas Chapel, in Falmouth Heights.
John was an avid sports fan and golfer. In his early years, he played for the 1938 Cape Cod Baseball League and the 1935 Black Stone Valley Baseball League. John was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Besides his wife, Martha, John is survived by his two children, Francis J. ''Chip'' Casey of Greenville, N.C., and Beth Weibust of Jamestown, R.I.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, in St. Patrick's Church, 511 Main St., Falmouth. Visiting hours will be on Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m., in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main St., Falmouth Center.
