Lance Cpl. Cody Allen Roberts, 22, of the 2nd Battalion 6th Marines 2nd Marine Division of Camp Lejeune, formally of Boise, died Aug. 31, 2010, while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Services are to be held at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Summers Funeral Home on Ustick Road, Meridian. Graveside service to follow at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
Cody was born in Jerome, on May 16, 1988, to Jeff and Nikee Roberts. Cody was primarily raised in the Magic Valley with brief times spent in Kentucky and Alaska. During Cody"s sophomore year he moved to Meridian where he attended Centennial High School. Cody was active in wrestling and football throughout high school. He was a trusted friend and teammate.
Cody graduated in May 2006, and joined the United States Marine Corps Aug., 2006.
After boot camp, Cody was stationed in Camp Allen, Va. He served overseas tours in Guantanamo, Cuba, and Bahrain, Saudi Arabia. Cody"s second duty station was at Camp Lejeune, N. C. While stationed at Camp Allen in Virginia, Cody met the love of his life Ashleigh Beehner and from the moment the two of them met they were inseparable.
Cody and Ashleigh were married June 13, 2009. The love they shared towards each other was picture perfect. The evidence of such love is recognized in their son Colten Ross Roberts, born May 14, 2010.
Cody was a brave Marine, and loving husband, wonderful father, and caring son.
Cody enjoyed the outdoors, and craved watching college football. He brought honor and integrity to every facet of his life, extending his kind heart to everyone he met.
He loved to make people laugh with his quick wit and charm. We all enjoyed his occasional "Booty Dance" because after all, like he would say, "I"m Cody Roberts, I DO WHAT I WANT!"
Cody is survived by his wife Ashleigh, son Colten, father Jeff Roberts; mother Nikee Kramer (Roberts); stepmother, Christee Roberts; sisters Kayla Roberts and Samantha Thorpe; brother Justice D. Kramer; grandparents Jim Roberts; Jeanette Johnson, Walt Taylor, and Jim and Nancy Cobbs, and many more beloved relatives.
Cody embodied the true spirit of the Marine Corps; believing entirely in his God, Family, and Country, the three values he lived for, he ultimately died for.
As an amazing Marine, husband, and father, a true hero, Cody made the ultimate sacrifice on the streets of a city in Afghanistan so his son would never have to be afraid for his life on ours.
Cody"s memory will forever light up our lives as we wait to be united in heaven with him. He will be forever loved. Afghanistan didn"t know how lucky it was to have a man like that set foot on their soil.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Cody"s son, Colten Roberts at a Wells Fargo Bank.
