John "Jack" Roberts, 84, Brick, NJ


John "Jack" Roberts, 84, of Brick, formerly of Kearny died on Friday, Aug. 27, 2010 at his home. Born in Kearny, Mr. Roberts was a graduate of Kearny High School. He proudly served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Mr. Roberts was a member of the Kearny Fire Department from 1950 until his retirement in 1991 with the rank of Captain. In 2005 he moved to Brick. Mr. Roberts was a member of the Exempt Firemen's Association, and the Romeos Club (Retired Old Men Eating Out)
He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew Roberts and Martha Ruddick Roberts and his beloved wife, Gloria Roberts; he is survived by his loving children, Jack Roberts of Florida, Tom Roberts of Florida, Bill Roberts and his wife Rosemary of Neptune, Barbara Roberts of Belmar, Steve Roberts and his wife Noreen of Howell, and Doug Roberts of East Rutherford. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Alex, Rebecca, Courtney, and Shannon Roberts in addition to his cat Amelia.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday 3-7 pm at the Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Service 2652 Highway 138 westbound Wall Township, adjacent to the Rt. 18 north entrance. On Wednesday at 10:00 am Funeral Services will be offered at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Eble officiating, burial with Military Honors will follow at Arlington Cemetery 748 Schuyler Avenue Kearny. Donations in memory of Mr. Roberts can be made to the Humane Society, 1 Humane Way Forked River, NJ 08731. For directions to the funeral home or to send a message of condolence to the family visit
