I will praise your name forever, my king and my God. (Ps 145)

God our Father, we come before you this day ready to sing praises
and to give you thanks for your presence in our lives.
As your Son suffered for our sins,
may we be mindful of our need to ask forgiveness
and to experience your grace in the sacrament of reconciliation.
Amen

Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth;
you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the kingdom.
(Mt 11)

God our Father, your Son Jesus taught many times through parables.
We hear in scripture about the merchant in search for fine pearls.
Help us to grow in our understanding of what it means to be a true disciple and to recognize good value and the priceless treasures in our lives.
Help us to put aside material belongings in order to focus on following the ways of your Son.
Amen.

O look at me and be merciful, for I am wretched and alone.
See my hardship and my poverty, and pardon all my sins.
(Ps 24)

Lord Jesus, sometimes our lives can seem so difficult and painful that we lose sight of your presence in our lives.
We sometimes don't know how to approach you for we have sinned and are in need of your forgiveness and healing,
yet our humanity gets in our way of asking for your forgiveness and strength.
We come before you this day, mindful of our sinfulness and our deep desire to be forgiven.
Help us to live with our humaness and to call to you for mercy.
This day, may we feel your forgiving presence in our lives.
Amen.

The Lord is my light and my salvation.
Who shall frighten me?
The Lord is the defender of my life.
Who shall make me tremble?
(Ps 26)

Lord Jesus Christ, we come before you in prayer with grateful hearts for all the good that you have shown us in our lives.
You are our light and our salvation, may we never feel fear in our lives that it would separate us from you.
We believe that you are our defender in life, may we always come to you when we are faced with difficulties and hardships.
Amen.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
(Mt 5)

God our creator, there are so many people in our world who are persecuted for their belief in you.
We hear in scripture that those who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness that the kingdom will be theirs.
We pray for all those whose lives are threatened by violence because of their witness to your presence in our world.
May they feel your presence in their life and may they be strengthened in your love and mercy to continue to bear witness to your name.
Amen.

God, come to my help. Lord, quickly give me assistance.
You are the one who helps me and sets me free: Lord, do not be long in coming.
(Ps 69)

God our Father, we ask that you keep us strong and alive in your love.
As we journey in this life, we are in need of your strength to sustain us and to help us remain focused on our journey in life.
There are many distractions that can cause us to lose sight of your presence in our lives and in our world.
May we strive to remain focused and to give you thanks each and every day for we are grateful for the many graces that you give us in our journey in faith.
Amen.

God is the strength of his people.
In him, we his chosen live in safety.
Save us, Lord, who share in your life,
and give us your blessings;
be our shepherd for ever.
(Ps 27)

God our Father, it gives us great joy to call you Father and to be mindful that we are your children.
We desire that you be our shepherd and guide us as a shepherd does his flock.
We know that when one sheep is lost from the fold, the shepherd goes to find the lost sheep.
May we never stray from your fold, but if we do, may you come to find us and bring us back.
Amen

If you, O Lord, laid bare our guilt, who could endure it? But you are forgiving, God of Israel.
(Ps 129)

God our Father, there are many moments in our lives where we have done wrong and are in need of your forgiveness.
Help us to turn towards you in these moments and draw strength from your graces to face the wrong we have done.
May we always know of your saving grace in our lives.
Amen

Within your temple, we ponder your loving kindness, O God.
As your name, so also your praise reaches to the ends of the earth;
your right hand is filled with justice.
(Ps 47)

Lord Jesus, we desire so much to ponder your kindness and to live in justice.
We come before you this day asking for your guidance as we strive to give witness to justice in our places of work, within our families and with our friends.
There are times it is so difficult, yet we desire so much to proclaim this justice to all whom we encounter as we walk this journey on earth.
May we have the strength and energy to continue to give this witness in life.
Amen.

Lord, be true to your covenant,
forget not the life of your poor ones for ever.
Rise up, O God, and defend your cause;
do not ignore the shouts of your enemies.
(Ps 73)

Lord Jesus, we desire so much to be true to your covenant with us.
Yet, at times we fail to remain true to your presence in our lives for we have many distractions that we encounter in our journey of faith.
Help us to focus our lives on your presence in our journey and we may always respond to you in faith and trust.
Amen.

Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace forever.
(Ps. 72)

God of power and mercy, help us to open our hearts to receive your Son.
May we be open to looking at what hinders us from fully welcoming your Son into our lives this Christmas.
As we continue to reflect during this Advent Season,
may we spend some time in prayer reflecting on receiving Jesus into our hearts and letting go of what prevents us from enjoying the graces of reconciliation.
Amen.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor.
(Is. 61)

For to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior,
which is Christ the Lord. (Lk 2:11)

God our Father, today you make this day special with the birth of your Son Jesus. We welcome Him into our lives as the Way, the Truth and the Light.
May we share the gift of the presence of Jesus on this day of Christmas with those who surrounds us.
We may sing as the Angels did on the first Christmas morning:
Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.
Amen.

Let my prayers come before you, Lord; listen, and answer me.
(Ps 87)

Lord Jesus, there are days that we feel the burdens and challenges that this life brings to us.
We ask that you help us become aware of how our prayers come before you like incense and rise up before you.
May we grow in our belief that you listen and hear our prayers and respond to us in love and kindness.
Amen.

In the past God spoke to our fathers through the prophets; now He speaks to us through His Son.
(Heb 1)

Lord God, open our ears to hear the Words of your Son,
touch our lips to proclaim your presence in our lives and in our world and heal our broken hearts so that we may love our neighbors.
As we begin this new year, may we be living examples of your Son's actions on earth and be peacemakers in situtations that we find ourselves living in at this time.
Amen.

Sing a new song to the LORD, for he has done marvelous deeds.
His right hand and holy arm have won the victory.
Ps 98

Lord, every day is a different day with new challenges, needs, joys, and hopes.
But I can face them all with confidence because I know that you are here with me.
Just as you have helped those in need in your public ministry, I know that you will continue to be at my side to guide me and strengthen me.
There may be many temptations, challenges, and opportunities this day,
but I know I will be able to sing your praises at the end of the day because you are with me.
Amen.

Prayer for Those in the Armed Services

O God of Mercy, we beg You now to protect in a special way those who are fighting for us and for the country we love.
Bless them and take care of them. If they are tired, give them strength.
If they are wounded and suffering, give them comfort.
If they are lonely, touch them with Your gentle hand and let them know that You are near them.
Grant them strength, wisdom and help through Your power and Your limitless love.
Amen.
