Major Edward Braun McNeill, Jr., USMC (Ret.) 88, of Charleston, widower of Emma Jeanne Lee McNeill died Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Roper Hospital. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 10 o'clock at Sauldam Baptist Church, 5945 County Line Road, Ravenel. Burial will follow at White Church Cemetery, Ravenel. Friends may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville from 6 until 8 o'clock on Tuesday evening, June 13, 2006. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: V.F.W. Post#3142, 3555 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, SC 29406. Mr. McNeill was born November 25, 1917 in Johnson City, Tennessee, a son of the late Edward Braun McNeill, Sr. and Margaret Nola Morrell McNeill. He was a graduate of schools in Macon, Georgia and attended Eastern Carolina College. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he retired as a Marine Corps Officer. He was a member of the Lions Club, Elks Club, Weeks V.F.W., the Gideons, Ducks Unlimited, former G.O.P Candidate Republican, World War II D.I. Association. He was a member of Sauldam Baptist Church. Surviving are, daughters, Sherry Lee Harris of Charleston and Peggy Jeanne Spyker of Summerville; son, James Edward McNeill of Longs, SC; daughter, Julia Ann McNeill of Angleton, Texas; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
