Edward "Eddie" Meyer, 92 of West St. Paul, MN

Edward "Eddie" Meyer, 92 of West St. Paul Died peacefully on October 29, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Southview Acres in West St. Paul and is now reunited with his wife of 35 years Lorraine Gfrerer Meyer.

Edward owned a Jewelry Store on the West Side "Eddie's Jewelry" and also did watch repair for Gordon Jewelry for many years.

He joined the Marines at the age of 17 and served his country in US Marine Corps 2nd Division WWII. He was a Purple Heart recipient for his injuries in the Battle of Saipan on June 15, 1944. He also fought previously in the Battle of Tarawa, November 1943. Lifelong member of Knights of Columbus and a 4th Degree Grand Knight and St. Matthew's Men's Club of which he was one of the founding members and worked at the Fish Fry every year. He enjoyed being with family, playing golf and cards and working at Par 3, cribbage, chess and volunteering for many, many organizations.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Marie (Weber) Meyer, Lillian Shelley, Ed's twin sister Edna Huovinen, Walter, Lucille Ehlenbach.

He is survived by his children, Robert (Loralu), Susan (Jim) Flipp, Gary (Peggy Holzem), Patricia (Rodney) Kolb, Kenneth (Kelley), Timothy (Deb Karisch) and Cynthia (Lars) Gerfast. He also leaves behind 15 grand-children and 8 great-grandchildren; sister Delores Astrup, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass 1:00 pm Friday (Nov. 10) St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1154 Seminole Ave., West St. Paul. Visitation 4-7 pm Thursday at West Funeral Home, 1051 South Robert St., West St. Paul & 1 hour prior to Mass at church.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in his name to the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 5, or donors choice.

A private burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. 651-457-6200
