John P. Curran, age 81, of Holyoke, MA

John P. Curran, age 81, of Holyoke, died Saturday August 19, 2006 at Mount Saint Vincent. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Peter and Brigid (Sullivan) Curran and attended the former Saint Jerome Schools. He was a thirty-eight year Holyoke Firefighter, retiring in 1990. John was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Holyoke Fireman's Aid Association, and the Western Mass Chapter of Trout Unlimited. John is survived by his wife of 51 years Theresa (Lynch) Curran; a son John P. Curran Jr. of Charlotte NC; three daughters: Mary B. Curran of Bronx NY, Kathleen R. Curran of Holyoke, and Margaret T. Hennessey of New York City, NY; two grandchildren; a brother Timothy F. "Frank" Curran of Holyoke, and several nephews. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9:00 from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass in St. Patrick Chapel of St. Jerome Church at 10:00a.m. Burial will be in St. Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Jericho, PO Box 1039, Holyoke MA 01041. Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home (413) 536- 3843
