George Auriemma Sr., 85, Lake Placid, FL

George Auriemma, Sr., 85, of Lake Placid, Florida, died early Friday morning July 17, 2015, in the companionship of his loving daughter.

George was the son of Ms. Lucy Ferrari and John Auriemma, born February 04, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY. He joined the US Marine Corps at an early age and served during the Korean Conflict. George was self-employed and conducted his marine business in Miami, FL. George was not only a marine mechanic, he built and raced high perfor-mance boats and engines. George loved to bowl and spend time with his fellow bowlers. He was also fond of playing poker.

George is survived by his children, George, Jr. (Angie), Rick (Susan), Gina and Steven Bexley; grandchildren, John Rooks, Jamie Bexley, Andrea, George, III, Becca Auriemma, and Ria Kay McDonald; and he was blessed with 9 great-grand-children.

Graveside funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 24, at Sarasota National Cemetery. Military Honors and pallbearers will be provided by the US Marine Corps Funeral Honor Team. Inter-ment will follow.
