MSgt Richard "Dick" Edward Beck USMC (ret), age 83, of Phoenix, AZ

MSgt Richard "Dick" Edward Beck, age 83, of Phoenix, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 in Phoenix.

He was born on October 19, 1934 to the late Edward and Alma (Fitman) Beck in Brooklyn, NY. On October 31, 1959 he married Barbara H. Crawley in Staten Island, NY.

Richard was a proud member of the US Marine Corps for 30 years. He was a member of VFW Post #720 and the American Legion Post #107. Richard received the following medals, badges, and awards: Five Air Medals, Navy Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Medal, a Bronze Star, Combat Action Ribbon, two Navy Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Marine Corps Recruiting Ribbon, Marine Security Guard Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Civilian Action and Citation, Rifle Expert Badge, Pistol Expert Badge, and an Air Combat Crew Wings with Stars. He enjoyed traveling, camping, hiking, fishing, wood working, gardening, watching classic movies, and spending time with his family and friends.

Richard is survived by his loving spouse of 58 years, Barbara; three children, Kevin (Ellen) Beck of PA, Susan (Joseph) Spikes, and Robert (Sophie Wu) Beck; five grandchildren, Kevin, Bryan, Kristina, Brayden and Andrew; beloved dog, Fritz III; and many other loving family and friends.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am today, December 27, at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Road, Phoenix, AZ 85022 with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. Committal service with Military Honors will follow the funeral service at 1:00 pm in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard's honor may be made to the Patriot Guard Riders at or US Marine Corps Heritage Foundation at
