Shaun W. "Shauner" Overton, 22, West Terre Haute, IN

Shaun W. "Shauner" Overton, 22, of West Terre Haute died at 11:36 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 6, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of the War on Iraq, He served two tours in Iraq during his four years of service and had just returned home from North Carolina on Sept. 22, 2009 after receiving an honorable discharge. While serving the tours in Iraq he was involved with providing security for transport convoys. He was born Oct. 11, 1986 in Terre Haute to Steven Overton and Kathy Wilson Overton. Survivors include: his father, Steven Overton; his mother, Kathy Kennedy and her husband, Steven Kennedy; a brother, Aaron Overton; a special cousin whom he considered a brother, William Friede; grandparents, Edward and Rosemary Wilson and Helen and Stephen Houser; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a graduate of West Vigo High School class of 2005 of which he was a member of the football and wrestling teams. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home with the Rev. David Lowe and Charlie Goodwin officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today and prior to services on Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Bethesda Memorial Park with military rites provided by the Vigo County Veterans Honorguard and the Marine Corps Reserves Honorguard. There will be a gathering of family and friends following the services for a meal and to further celebrate Shaun's life at the Joseph A. Bray Marine Corps League, 3006 N. 16th St.; Terre Haute, IN.
