GySgt Frederick J. Corcoran USMC (ret), 74, Altamonte Springs, FL

Frederick J. Corcoran, born April 17, 1937 in Dayton, OH, passed away, surrounded by his family, Sunday, December 4, 2011 at his residence in Altamonte Springs, FL. Fred was a retired Gunnery Sergeant, USMC, 4th Marines Division, Lima Co, serving from 1953-1973. Member Underage Military Veterans, American Legion #182, Amvets, Veterans Club of Casselberry, FL, Moose Lodge, West Gate Lodge #623, F&AM and the Aladdin Shrine. He was an avid collector of military history and memorabilia. He was a volunteer at Florida South Hospital for ten years. He enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling and spending time with his family. Preceded in death by father Frederick G. Corcoran, mother Tressa Corolla, step-father Nick Corolla, sister Patricia Kauffman. Survived by sister, Rita Walp, Cincinnati, OH; daughter, Vicki Swincher, Columbus, OH; sons, Fred D. Corcoran, Auburn, CA, and Steve Corcoran, Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Rex and Nate Lynch, Columbus, OH, Ross and Nick Corcoran, Tampa, FL, Megan Corcoran, Auburn, CA, Riley Swincher, Columbus, OH, Erin and Kelly Corcoran, Auburn, CA., Aiden and Keegan Lynch, Columbus, OH; his great neighbors, Ed, Stephanie and their daughter, Lauren Nunez, Altamonte Springs, FL. Friends may call at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 W. Broad St., Wednesday, 4-7 p.m., where service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Thomas Phillips officiating. Interment Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to you local Hospice organization.
