Daniel J. "Skinners" Fusco, 89, Mechanicville, NY

MECHANICVILLE -- Daniel J. "Skinners" Fusco, 89, of Saratoga Ave., died Tuesday evening, December 13, 2011, after an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, born August 4, 1922, son of the late Pasquale and Ippolita Fusco, he was the husband of the late Josephine "Babe" DiBello Fusco, who died in 1989, and father of the late Dan "Nature" Fusco, who died in 1993. During World War II, Dan served with the US Marine Corps 1st Marine Division in the Pacific's Marshall Islands and Okinawa. A steamfitter for the former West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co until the plant closed in 1971, Dan later worked for the NYS Department of Education in Albany. A member of a number of clubs and organizations, such as the Elks Lodge, Marine Corps League, Peters-Purcell ITAM, American Legion Post 91, Plum Brook Fish and Game, Sons of Italy and Athletic Club all of Mechanicville, Dan enjoyed gardening, cooking, hiking in the Adirondacks, bocce ball and horse racing. Survivors include his two daughters, Joyce and Judy (Don Pratt) Fusco both of Mechanicville; son, David (Kelli Alonzo) Fusco of Mechanicville; grandson, Anthony Eaton of Albany; sister-in-law, Philomena DiBello of Mechanicville; brother-in-law, Anthony DiBello of East Greenbush; longtime companion, Sue Seney of Averill Park, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Dan was also predeceased by brothers, Mark and Tony Fusco; and sisters, Philomena Odorisio, Anna Fusco, Carmel Serbu and Jennie Comstock. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at All Saints on the Hudson South Church, (St. Paul's), 121 No. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial with military honors in St. Paul's Cemetery. Calling hours at the No. Main St. Church on Saturday from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of one's choice , in loving memory of Daniel "Skinners" Fusco. Visit to leave condolences and for directions.
