Edward Albin Tomko, 77, of Montgomery, TX

Edward Albin Tomko, 77, of Montgomery, Texas passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 30, 1940. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anna Chordzik Tomko and Albin Tomko, and his wife of 53 years, Ruth Elaine Tomko (Doyle).

Ed is survived by his 2 daughters, Christine Jonas (Jason), and Karen Poynter (Brandon). He leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Julia and Katlyn Jonas, and Blaine, Alec and Kasey Poynter. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, sister, Mary Ann Andrews, brothers, William (Marjorie) Tomko, and Joseph Tomko (Sharla).

Ed was a proud military veteran who served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1961, assigned to the 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Tank Battalion, 1st Amphibian Tractor Battalion. The discipline, patriotism and the "always see a mission through to the end" attitude he learned in the Marines never left him, as friends and family will attest.

Rite of Christion Burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plantersville, Texas on Wednesday, December 20th. Visitation will be at the church from 12-2p.m., with a funeral Mass at 2p.m., and interment immediately following at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors of M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital, as well as the many friends that have supported Ed and his entire family this past year during his courageous battle.
