Kimmell B. Barbour, 94, of Erie, PA

Kimmell B. Barbour Loving, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather ----- Kimmell B. Barbour, 94, of Erie, died Monday, January 7, 2008, at Hamot Medical Center. He was born in Conemaugh, Pa. on February 3, 1913, a son of the late Paul and Olive Salsgiver Barbour. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. Kimmell had been employed as a machinist at National Forge for 37 years prior to his retirement in 1980. He had been a member of Crossroads Community Baptist Church and the Tyrian Commonwealth Lodge 362 F&AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Erie and the Zem Zem Temple Shrine. Kimmell enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and refinishing furniture. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Schunk Barbour in 2005, a brother Carl Barbour and two sisters Charlotte Webb and Twila McGrew. He is survived by a son Kevin Barbour and his wife Deborah of Erie and a daughter Karen Walk and her husband David, also of Erie. He is further survived by five grandchildren; Heidi Stratton and her husband Shawn of Erie, Julie Baughman and her husband Adam, also of Erie, Holly Oliver and her husband Joseph of Beaver Falls, Pa., Lori Knittle and her husband Harry of Pottstown, Pa. and Matthew Atchley, of Erie and six great grandchildren, Taylor and Nicholas Stratton, Amoryn and Noah Baughman, Lindsay Knittle and Layla May Atchley. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 602 West 10th Street, on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. including a Tyrian-Commonwealth Lodge 362 service at 7 p.m. A service will be held there on Friday at 10 a.m. with Reverends David and Katie White officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in New Castle, Pa. Send condolences at Sign the guestbook at
